The Royal Bangsak Beach is a new hotel, opening in April of this year when we were staying at the next resort Le Meridien about a 30 minute or so down the fabulous beach. It claims to be a 4* but is probably 3 to 4. It's a bit isolated, being a 20 minute ride from Khao Lak Town for local restaurants and bars, though there are some very local beach restaurants further North along the beach. Not sure whether you can walk to these or need a taxi.

It's great for a relaxing beach holiday and some of the prices I saw with Thomson offered tremendous value.

We have just returned after spending 7 nights at the Royal Bangsak, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The hotel was very quiet while we were there, probably about 20 people at the most staying there, but it is the quiet season at the moment. The manager is a real ` hands-on` person who chats with the guests on a regular basis and who leaves the impression that he is going to work as hard as the rest of his staff to make sure his customers come back.

It is quite remote, about a 15 mins drive from Khao Lak center, but the hotel does run a taxi service ( 300 tbt -£4.50 ) which is the same price as a local taxi.

It's great to get a positive report on a new resort, particularly one that is being pushed in UK by a major operator, Thomson. I hope you post review on the main hotel site. Khao Lak needs all the encouragement it can get to assist with its recovery.

Totally agree with you Arandora, and i think we can do our little bit with positive comments, Thomson bringing people to Khoa Lak with very attractive prices, and the local people in bars, shops, restaurants etc being so friendly, i can only see a bright future again for Khoa Lak

Great that you agree. what did you think of the Royal Bangsak resort - did you feel isolated. Was the beach good or was there coral? Now far to the nearest restaurants/bars shops?

Glad to hear a positive resort on the Bangsak.

Did you find it an easy walk up the beach to the beach restaurants area near the Haadson (to the north)? Driving it, is a ways - but I am guessing the walk might be easy.
