Hello all

Traveling from Krabi to Ko Lanta by car ferry, is it necessary to book or can it be done when in Krabi. Will be going beginning of March 2013. Thanks

Book if you can as space is probably limited.

If you are driving with your own car it is not possible to make reservations. Car ferries run every 15 to 20 minutes. If you will take a share minibus let your hotel in Krabi organize this. Here seats are limited but I do not see a big problem for March.

There ferries leaving from Krabi do not take cars. They are passenger boats. No need to book until a few days before.

If you intend to drive instead of going by boat, you have to drive south for approx 1 hour from Krabi (depending on where in Krabi), and cross over from the main land to Koh Lanta yai via Koh Lanta noi with car ferries (two). They run all day and each takes about 10 and 20 minutes. No reservation is needed.

When you say Krabi, I guess you mean somewhere around Krabi town or Ao Nang in the Krabi province where also Ko Lanta belong.

I'm not sure that you can get a car ferry from Koh Lanta to Phuket, you may have to go back to the mainland and drive to Phuket via Krabi.
