Recommendations on where to stay in Florianopolis

Hi,

flights are confirmed and we (friend of mine and myself in our mid-thirties) are looking forward to spending New Years in Florianopolis.

Now comes the hard part: where should we stay??

We found Pousada do Atoba in Satinho on this site and it sounds lovely. The only concern is, that we might too far away from everything. We are looking for a rather quiet place to stay and want to avoid being in the middle of a touristy and loud area. At the same time it would be nice if the beach was not too far and some restaurants and bars around as well.

Anyone has recommendations for us?

Thank you in advance :)

Well, Santinho is indeed very far away from everything.

I would suggest a place somewhere in the Cacupe/Sambaqui/Santo antonio de lisboa area or something in the Campeche beach.

The Cacupe/Sambaqui/Sto. Antonio de Lisboa is a very beautiful, charming and quiet area. You can find good restaurants and some bars around. The problem is that there is no beach. Actually those places are located by the sea, but you just dont go to the beach there. You would have to go to somewhere else. Jurere Internacional is near by.

The Campeche beach is a very nice place. Very white sand, clean sea, wonderfull views... the thing is: there is no action around. But the Lagoa da Conceição area (bars, restaurants and night life) is easily reachable by car or taxi(if you find one).

You can also look for something in the Pantano do Sul beach.

Barra de Lagoa would be one choice with lots of nightlife and a younger crowd. There are lots of reviews/trip reports here on TA. I've stayed in Cachoeira (not for NYE though), whcih has a tranquil beach and is within a reasonable distance of Canasveiras, very lively but full of Argentine tourists when we were there. To get to beaches, of which there are many beautiful ones, you might think of renting a car.

Hi, i think the Campeche area would be perfect for what you are looking for: it offers hotels and guesthouses walking distance to the beach, and the Campeche beach is so beautiful! Also, it is a long beach that offers quiet places and other livelier places, like the Riozinho area, where a lot of nice people hang out playing beach tennis, surfing, kitesurfing, and there it is out of the traffic jam route, and you can reach the Lagoa da Conceição little town in 5 minutes driving by car or taxi. The Lagoa is the charming town on the beach side of the island. There are bars, coffe-shops, shops and most services like atm´s and supermarkets. You mentioned the Santinho beach, but it is really very far away from all the rest of the island.
