I spent a week with my family in the resort right next to Nannai, Summerville a few years ago and hada great time. Depends on your price range.

I've been to Porto 2 times, and stayed at different resorts ( the other one is now an Italian company), but in the 12 years I've been travelling in Brazil, my family enjoyed Summerville the most due to the great hotel ,and its facilities. You can dive off a waaterfall and swim under bridges till the bar at the end. Check it out.

I am sure that you are aware that August is the last part of the rainy season. Have you thought of going a bit more to the north to the beaches between Natal and Fortaleza? I personally think that the sun is out more up there this time of year. Also, as I am always prone to say, a bit further south of Porto de Galinhas, in Maragogi Alagoas and contiguous towns along the Coral Coast, you will find wonderful beaches with large fully protected lagoons, tropical pools along barrior reefs that are undiscovered, but have good accomodations.
