Staying at Marriott residence on Duke and questions

We're staying at the Marriott Residence on Duke for 4 days in mid September. We've been to Alexandria before and know about some of the restaurants on King. I vaguely remember walking not too far from the Marriott away from King and there were some small cute restaurants. Any recommendations on places other than King that can be walked to (mile or so from Residence Inn.

Also, any recommendations on things to see or do that we can walk to?

Well, if you walk the two blocks over to King Street, there is a free trolley that runs up and down King Street between the Metro station and the Waterfront. So that basically opens up all the restaurants. There are lots of "things to see or do" Take a look at the upper right hand corner of this page and click on the top question for some recommendations by one of our DEs. It's not just for saturdays:

What to do on a Saturday Morning in Old Town, Alexandria?

Or go to the city's web page and click on visitors

or go to http://www.visitalexandriava.com/

My favorite is to visit the Torpedo Factory and then walk along the waterfront.

Enjoy your visit
