Heading to Austin in October and was wondering which hotel would be the better choice?

Thanks :)

All things being equal, the Hilton is probably a better choice because it is closer to all of the 6th Street venues and the Capitol plus right across from the Convention Center.

However, the walk from Embassy Suites over the lake and up Congress when the weather is nice is pleasant. And the Dillo buses run up and down all over the place so it isn't difficult to catch a ride wherever you want to go downtown.

I like Embassy for two reasons- having the mini kitchen and the free breakfast/managers happy hour.

What are you planning to do while you're here? How many are traveling with you?

As noted above, the Hilton is in a better spot for 6th Street and downtown, but the Embassy Suites tends to get higher marks from families or those traveling with children because of the mini-kitchen and extra space.
