My girlfriend and I are traveling up the Oregon coast from Florence to Cannon Beach. Can anyone suggest some scenic spots where we can stop? Also, I am interested in a restaurant overlooking the coastline at our midway point perhaps near Lincoln City? Any help would be much appreciated.

mistletoe--I might be bumping into both of you then! We are headed to CB with friends that are from here, but live out of state now. I am really hoping her boys want to pass on Seaside though. If we go, I might have to resort to drinking...I really do not care for that town.

Heck, maybe we can schedule a GTG at Bigfoot Pub & Grub. I'll bring the wine if you'll bring the glasses. ;-)

mistletoe--You're on! Will you bring a viognier please? Or should I talk to my friend at Domain Druhin?

Re: Big Foot Pub & Grub..after hearing about bringing glasses to this place, I have lost interest in even eating there..all I can picture is dirty glasses and couples hauling in their own dishes, glasses and bottles LOL

Pretty soon, they will be bringing in their own take out from home lol.

Something to ponder:

Do people who brew their own beer, bring bottles with them to bars/pubs too ? lol

Oh that is a bummer, you really should try Bigfoots though, the decor is really cool, Woodsy and everything is rough cut timbers inside, and a huge bigfoot, it used to be in the old Links Outdoor store, down the road before they sold out. Go try the clam strips or their huge bigfoot burger, you need a steak knife for sure, my hubby loves it. But afterwards he wonders what he was thinking.

That is so wierd about the wine glasses, not sure what she is trying to imply.. maybe that is isn't high class society snooty tooty.. LOL well welcome to Seaside, where most locals don't eat out at every meal, and want to feel comfy in a restaurant in their shorts and Tee-shirt ;). They do have a full bar though, so I wouldn't knock it untill you tried it.

Not sure if JB88 is still looking at this, but I do have pictures (a lot from the Oregon coast and the mountains). You can check them out here:

www.imagestation.com/album/index.html…

As for restaurants around Lincoln City, some of our favorites are Mo's (view of Siletz Bay), Kyllo's (right on the beach), and in Depoe Bay is Tidal Raves (overlooking the ocean). Have lots of other favorites, but not with ocean views.

Adding to the others - I enjoy tasting at the Tillamook Cheese Factory - but also stop at the Blue Heron Cheese factory just 1 mile south of Tillamook. Big variety of things to taste.

Wonderful shops in Cannon Beach. Go to Ecola State PArk - two stops here - the upper stop looks out over the whole area including Terrible Tilly - the Tillamook Lighthouse which is now a columbarium for cremated remains for people who love the sea.- then take the other side road town to the beach.

Am doing my own debating for Sea Lion Caves. I remember it well from childhood - but have passed it by the last 3 times I drove down. I may just have to do it next year just to satisfy my curiosity. I usually see alot of seals along the way.

Just watch for pull outs - lots of them along the way.

This is an awful stop - but I always do it - The tiny aquarium at Seaside. A pathetic showing of fish - but they have these awsome seals born into captivity. You can buy fish to feed them and they wave at you and slap their fins or try to splash you to get your attention. Always makes me laugh - but this time I felt sorry for the seals in the tight enclosure.

I am glad you mentioned this. Its very sad to see those seals, its not the kind of thing you would expect to find in Oregon.I wish more people would protest their plight. Right by the ocean and they have to live in this pathetic home

JB88 has never responded. From him I learned good lesson don't take much time til OP responds. Once they do I really like to help

Ever so often we get one of those. but mostly people are really looking for help

I enjoyed recent note from one who posted their plan. and she had listened and made her choices. Great.

And we have kind of taken this off to a few other subjects. ok by me

Geneal I added post for Sea Lion Caves rather than respond here, but am curious if trip down is worth it nowl
