It is well worth it. We were there last month (Sept 05) and had an excellent holiday.
December weather should be hot and dry - bring loads of high factor suncream
Strongly recommend the all inclusive deal - some people were not on that and paid a fortune in bar bills.
the All Inclusive deal includes mineral water in bottles on demand, all meals in the main restaurant, loan of snorkel equipment and a couple of free trips - check with your travel operator what precisely their deal includes as far as trips go.
You can get a voucher to get 20% off at the other restaurants on the island - fun for a change.
Beach towels are supplied in the rooms. We were in a Standard room and did not get a hair dryer. Mind you I found my hair dried very quickly in the heat anyway.
You get a couple of chairs on your front veranda but no sun loungers. So I suggest taking a blow up beach pillow!
Some rooms are about a five or ten min (max) walk from the main restaurant. The hotel supplies big golf umbrellas for each room so if it does rain they are very helpful
Beaches all round the village mean you can find a spot you like - I always look for shade under trees as I burn easily and there is plenty.
Bring mozzy repellent and Eurax cream in case you do get bitten. In the dry season mozzies are apparently not a problem but if it does rain they can be a nuisance so be prepared.
there is a shop but it concentrates on souvenirs and on beach clothing with just a few emergency bits and pieces.
In December the sea should be calm but we had a rough crossing from the Airport. I was glad I had taken travel sickness tablets! It was fine on the way back.
If you are going to fly Monarch strongly suggest getting an upgrade to Premium - economy is very cramped on the overnight flight.
That was the only thing we did not enjoy.
Once we arrived on the Island we had a great time. The snorkelling is wonderful. If this is your first holiday do give it a try as early as you can. There are shallow parts of the beach where you can get used to using the mask and snorkel.
The fish are stunning to look at and seeing a turtle swim past just feet away is pure magic. Have a great time!
