Hi everyone,

I'm going skiing in Nozawa Jan 2008, and I want to book my accommodation now as I'll be there for the Fire Festival and it will probably be quite hard to get later.

Most of the ryokans I can find are quite expensive - does anyone know any cheaper ones suitable for a single, or any pensions and how to contact them? I want to spend under US$80 (AU$100) per night. I've already enquired at Uenokan, Chitosekan, Kawaichiya, Seisenso, Kawaichiya and Kiriya ( waiting to hear back and most of these are a bit above my price range anyway)

Appreciate any help! Thanks!

jane

Try Pension Schnee, it is right up on the mountain, so super convenient for skiing.

We found it good value, and the Yen has dropped even further since our last visit. Excellent breakfast & dinner.

Try "Haus St Anton" , it's great atmosphere, great hosts and delicious food! Indeed, the Yen dropped, so should be within your budget!

We stayed there with whole family and liked the hotel a lot! in the centre, not far from elevator to ski-area

Can recommend Lodge Nagano, which can be booked through Nagano Ski Tours: www.naganoskitours.com. We stayed there earlier this year and we are returning again in January 2008. The staff at Lodge Nagano ensured we experienced the best Nozawa had to offer.

I have found Larissa at Nagano Ski Tours especially helpful and she will be able to find you accommodation within this price range even if Lodge Nagano is fully booked.

The guys at www.welovesnow.com would probably be able to advise you. They have been very helpful with our arrangements to Nozawa.
