Oct 22-27 Exploring Kinki Region

We are two fit ladies in our 60s. We are arriving at Kansai airport at 8 pm on Oct 22.

Is it better for us to stay overnight at an airport hotel in Osaka? Where do you suggest we base ourselves Osaka or Kyoto? Am more inclined to stay in Kyoto hotel, then transfer to Osaka hotel Oct 26. Is this a good plan? Any suggestions?

We plan to maximize our time in Kyoto - 4 days. And one day for Nara and Osaka. Is there a need for a guide in exploring the sights considering our limited time? Is it easy to navigate around by buses and trains?

Our flight from Kansai airport is at 12 mn of Oct 27. So we have 5 full days to go around.

Thank you.

borealis1969,

I would stay all nights in Kyoto. Osaka and Nara can be done day-trip bases. You do not have to move to Osaka for your departure from KIX.

I would walk by myself. No need to hire a guide. With your guidebook you can take tarins and busses. No wrorry. Ask any Japanese. They will surely help you.

Enjoy Japan!

Hi Nomonomo,

Will definitely stay in Kyoto now. As to going around, its comforting to know that Japanese are helpful to tourists. Thank you for your tips.
