Bus to Arima Onsen

I can't seem to find too much info on bus from Kobe to Arima Onsen. I know you can take trains, but it involves several changes. Bus might take longer, but is more direct and therefore more relaxing.

Does the bus depart from Shin-Kobe or Sannomiya?

What's the name or number of the bus?

Where in the station area do I find the bus?

What's the schedule and cost?

Any info will be appreciated.

The bus is run by West JR Bus Company. The Osaka bus starts at Osaka, goes to Shinosaka and onto Arima Onsen. The Kobe bus starts at Shinkobe, goes to Sannomiya and onto Arima Onsen.

You can buy the ticket at a JR Travel Service Center (Green Window). You should also ask them where to board the bus then but the stop should be right outside the station. You can reserve via phone in advance or on-line but English is no available.

3. Re: Bus to Arima Onsen

Thanks a lot for the link and the info.

We would be traveling with a JR Pass. Since the bus is run by the West JR Bus Company, would you know if the bus is free?

Hankyu Bus is the way to go:

bus.hankyu.co.jp/highway/highway10.html

In about 55-70min you'll be at Arima: 1330yen for one way.

A few years back a word of advice here would be, stay on the surface level; don't try to walk on the underground corridors instead of using the crossover when you hit New Hankyu Hotel, about 30meters from the main entrance of which you can locate a bus terminal run by Hankyu. But that was then. Ever since a mega store (for hightech gadgets) opened, things have been changed. Look around and find a signboard that says Yodobashi Camera even if you stay underground. New Hankyu Hotel is across the avenue from Yodobashi. Well above your head on the wall of the blackish building not so tall is their corporate ID in the form of crown. No, you won't miss it.

Do you know if there is price difference for 急行 and 特急?

There's no difference in price between them. The only difference is, "急行" has more stops along the way. So you'd be better off taking a "特急."
