Is November 2nd 2012 a national holiday in Japan?

We will be staying in Hiroshima for a couple of nights from November 1st.

If the 2nd is a holiday, does that mean the Peace Park, Museum, and the Miyajima ferry etc are not open / operating?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but November 2, 2012 (Friday) isn't a national holiday in Japan. November 3, 2012 is a holiday and as it falls upon Saturday and not on Sunday, there won't be a substitute day off work. The Peace Park is always open to my knowledge, the Museum is closed only between Dec 29-Jan 1, and the ferry to Miyajima runs on all days.

As Yobeekool says November 3rd is the Culture Day, a national holiday. Everything is open on the 2nd.
