Thank you to all previous TA posters who recommended Michael Yang!! We went with that recommendation and the best tour guide we had in China. The difference: 1) Extensive knowledge regarding China, which provided a more comprehensive understanding of the country, (I believe he taught other tour guides, and as we toured the Terracotta site, many of the other guides waved to him); 2) he steered us away from all the sales pitch, but was very professional on how he handled; 3) provided pros and cons of each site, so we could make an informed decision on whether to visit the site or not; 4) flexible as to the tour sites to visit, did not try to steer us in any way. 5) took us to other less touristy sites, Taoist monastery; 6) Getting very late, but he still took us to the Muslim quarter, and did not make us feel in any way that it was too late or it was inconvenient; 7) felt very safe with him, he is a licensed tour guide, and a good driver. Showed up on time to pick us up for airport transfers. It was a great trip, we were only there 2 nights, but 1 full day. If you can, try to stay there longer, at least one more day. He made this short side trip to Xi'an an incredible experience.
