In Xi'an, the two central hotels are very nice with good location, one is Bell Tower Hotel, another one

in Xian is: Citadines Hotel. it's closed to Muslim Quarter.

. esp last one is very clean comfy quite.

We stayed at the Melody Hotel, which was right across from the Muslim Quarter market.

Clean, efficient and very helpful staff, but the breakfast was not to our liking, but may be ok for you?

there are many hotels located center of city Xi'an.Bell Tower Hotel,City Hotel,Wenyuan Hotel,Prince Hotel...all have comfy,clean, quiet rooms. pPrice you can get deal I think.

I was in Xi'an recently. I stayed at the Grand Mercure on Remini Square. If you want quiet, this is it. Remini Square has virutally no vehicular traffic around it. We paid $165 including full breakfast. It's within 15 minute walking to drum tower/Muslim area. This is a functional hotel, nothing fancy.

Renmin Square, not Remini Square. If Grand Mercure is a bit expensive, try Mercure instead. These two, as well as Sofitel, are all in the same courtyard.

I just came back from China. While in Xian, I stayed at the Sofitel. Great hotel for the price. I paid under $100 USD for the room from hotels.com. I was very happy with the hotel. Taxi's were always available at the front door.
