Hello

Could anybody please tell me if there is a DIRECT train going from Guilin to Shenzhen? It is doing my head in trying to find information on train routes in China!

Thank you,

No. K950

You can see what still available real time on this site launched by China Raiyway Ministry: http://www.12306.cn/mormhweb/kyfw/ypcx/ . Just select date and paste departure and arrival city names( In Chinese shenzhen=深圳,guilin= 桂林), put in security code then click 查询, you will see how many and which kinds of tickets are still available in seconds. I‘d like to give you some meaning of Chinese characters to help you understand well:

车次 Train No.

发站 from

到站 to

发时 depart time

到时 stop time

历时 duration

商务座 forget it (very few, only available in bullet trains )

特等座 forget it (very few, only available in bullet trains )

一等座 1st class seat (only available in bullet trains)

二等座 2nd class seat (only available in bullet trains)

高级软卧 luxury soft sleeper (a kind of private carbin with 2 beds and 1 toilet in it, it’s the best choice for night travel, but costs a lot even more than that of flight.)

软卧 normal soft sleeper

硬卧 hard sleeper

软座 soft seat

硬座 hard seat

无座 no seat, sit on your legs.

Do you have a Chinese domestic credit card? If not, you cannot buy online in any case.

If you are not arriving via the train station, you can save the trip and have your hotel/hostel purchase the tickets for you.

7. Re: Direct Guilin to Shenzhen?

Rather than start a new thread I will post here.

I am looking at going the other way (Shenzhen to Guilin) in April this year.

I have been using the www.cnvol.com website for information.

It will be the K949/K952 train right?

- The K means it has a soft sleeper.

- There is no A or B at the end, so the K949/K952 runs every day.

- The price will be 362-379 RMB (depending on upper or lower soft sleeper).

- Being a K train means tickets are on sale 7-10 days before departure.

Is this right? Any help is appreciated.

Can i purchase the tickets from Hong Kong?

Thanks

K has nothing to do if the train is equipped with soft sleeper, a lot of K trains are only with hard sleeper. K means fast in Chinese, they are a kind of trains less fast than T trains. In general their average speed in order: G or C > D > T or Z > K > with nothing ahead of numbers .

> There is no A or B at the end, so the K949/K952 runs every day.

-- right.

> The price will be 362-379 RMB (depending on upper or lower soft sleeper).

-- right, but it's 426 for lower berth and 444 for upper one when i just checked.

No, how many days prior to departure time depends on where you buy it. Generally for the moment, you can purchase online or through hotline 95105105 12 days in advance. If at train station it is no more than 10 days. The first methods requires you have a Chinese bank card with e-banking.

CTS does the job.
