Hi there! I’m planning a trip to Guangzhou/Shenzhen/

Panyu/Zhongshan/Zhuhai/Macau/Hong Kong next year (either in September or October 2009). Would be grateful if someone could enlighten me on the followings:-

(1) When is the best time to visit Guangzhou?

(2) Is 8 days enough to cover Guangzhou/Shenzhen/

Panyu/Kaiping/Zhongshan/Zhuhai/Macau/Hong Kong?

(3) When is the actual date of the Canton Fair in

Guangzhou next year?

(4) Apart from the Canton Fair, are there any other

special events in Guangzhou scheduled to be

held in September/October 2009?

(5) How expensive can the accommodation be in

Guangzhou during the Canton Fair as compared to

normal season?

(6) Does hotels in Guangzhou have travel desks at

their reception?

(7) Best place/street to stay in Guangzhou i.e.

hotels that are located nearby to food stalls/

restaurants, shopping centre, subway

stations/bus station, 24 hour convenient

stores, tourist spots?

(8) From Guangzhou to Hong Kong/Macau, what sort of

transportation is the most economical, fastest

and comfortable way to travel and how long is

the journey?

(9) Any recommendation on reliable and good service

travel agents in Guangzhou?

1) Based on what? Anytime that's not Canton Fair, if you're not coming for business. Perhaps around December/January if you want somewhat cooler weather.

2) No!!! If you're just sightseeing, I would probably skip Zhuhai, Zhongshan and Panyu. Skip Shenzhen unless you really want to shop (might as well do that in Guangzhou) or just transiting there.

6) Some do.

7) Try around Shamian Island, around Tianhe, around Haizhu Square/Beijing Lu.

8) Guangzhou -- Hong Kong by train from Guangzhou East train station. For Guangzhou -- Macau, take a bus to Zhuhai's Gongbei border and walk across.
