Hi All,

I'm relatively familiar with Cebu City in general, but can't seem to find a reasonably priced, but modern fitness center, preferably in or near Banawa, but I'm open to any other good options.

Can anyone make a recommendation? Also, are there any good yoga places in Cebu?

I know of Fitness First in Ayala.

Thanks in advance,

GeoVan

Hi. Try Metrosports (Salinas Drive, Lahug), Coach Pacquiao gym (JY Mall, Lahug) or City Gym (Basement, Waterfront Hotel). Metrosports will cost you 4,500 per year (membership includes discounts at the badminton courts and spa). The gym is relatively new and they have just added one more floor of equipment. They also have a boxing club and rock climbing facilities.

Hope this helps!

Hi Traveling Lawyer (and fellow member of the bar),

Thanks! Oh, ok, never knew there was a gym in JY. I've been to the gym at Waterfront before. Not familiar with Metrosports... can you help me out with any landmarks for that gym? I presume it shouldn't be too far from the other two gyms you mentioned since Salinas Drive isn't a very long strip.

p.s. I noted your trip to Singapore and KL. I was there a few months back. In KL, the National Zoo ("Zoo Negara") is also a pretty good zoo; other good sites include the KL Tower... I think much better than trying to get to the viewing deck of the Petronas Towers (which I didn't do), but you'll get a fantastic view of the Petronas Towers from the KL Tower, plus a view of the city. There is also a Chinatown in KL and other cultural side tours that can be easily arranged through your hotel.

Hello Pañero (that's how we call our fellow lawyers here)! Metrosports is close to Waterfront Hotel and is right beside Sunflower (the disco/bar). The facilities at Metrosports are better than the gym at JY square so I think you can choose between Metrosports and Citigym.

Another option would be the Holiday Gym (along Banilad Road, close to Cebu Coutry Club). They used to offer promos like pay for three months, get an extra month free (but I'm not sure if they still have those).

Thanks for your infor on Malaysia! Would you, by any chance, know of any reliable car rental service there? Is it safe to take cabs late at night? Would you know where the Malawati Stadium is? Sorry for the barrage of questions, I'm just anxious to know how we can go around Malaysia (it'll be our first time there). Thanks much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Geovan,

I hope you can help me as you say you are familiar with Cebu? I am moving there next month on a 4 month contract and was wondering if you can give me some feedback on the nicer areas/neighbourhoods in Cebu. It is hard to see what areas are nice just looking at a map. I would like to find a place to stay that is realtively central, close to gyms and supermarkets, but would not want to be stuck in a bad or noisy area.

I hope you can suggest something?

Thanks,

Meikie
