Woohoo! Being a Malaysian for 38 years, finally I'm stepping my feet on East Malaysia for the first time!
I'll be travelling alone. Staying near Jalan Abell. Is it safe to do so? Any tourist traps and threats to be alert of?
My plan is:
16 May - touring around Kuching Waterfront and the adjacent areas
Any interesting places to visit? I'd prefer to travel on foot. Tua Pek Kong temple, Kuching Waterfront, where else?
17 May - Visiting Wind Cave, Fairy Cave, Mount Santubong
I read that it needs "good health" for the hiking and cave exploration. But I didn't train up myself prior to this trip. Are these places really requiring more body energy and stamina? Do I need to prepare myself to get wet?
18 May - touring around the hotel area again for food, shopping, etc. if no better plan.
What are the shopping malls reachable on foot along Jalan Main Bazaar and nearby (within 30 mins walk from Jalan Abell)? Any dry market or night market?
Any good places for local food? Mee Kolok, what else?
