Just a brief recommendation for anyone looking for a place to stay in Kota Bharu - Lee Guesthouse. Telephone no:017-9806638. Or try: 609-7479668 ,609-7479663. Email address: LeeGuesthouse@GMAIL.COM My family of 6 stayed there both coming and going through Kota Bharu on our way to Perhentian. Mr. Lee went far, far out of his way to accommodate our needs, at all hours, including finding dinner for us, taking us out in a storm to get some things for the kids, walking us thru the airport ensuring that we found our way, handling any other questions or concerns. This attention is hard to beat, even in service-oriented Asia. We were so impressed, I felt obliged to provide these comments on a couple of travel websites. The guest house is large and spacious, with 8 bedrooms and a kitchen as well. It's not fancy (you can see photos at http://www.worldisround.com/articles/188057/index.html) but it is basic and comfortable, secure and clean. We have three kids under 10, so those are our priorties anyway. There is a TV and DVD player to pass some down time, and the house is in a nice neighborhood with a small park just down the road. Price for the whole house was 220 RM per night, if I recall correctly. We were a bit apprehensive, or at least curious, never having been to malaysia before and making all arrangements for the guest house rental over the internet. But everything worked out very smoothly, due to the terrific service from Mr. Lee. If we find ourselves in this city again, we'll be staying at the same place. (By the way, I guess I should mention that we're not related to Lee.) If you have a particular question, you can email us at dpw21@yahoo.com. Hope this aids your decision making...

Feels like home. But Kubang Kerian is a bit far from Town centre. Definitely not walking distance...if you want to explore Kota Bharu town.
