Restaurant for wedding reception |
|
Hi there, Can anyone suggest any really good restaurants positioned on the beach/other for a sit down meal for our wedding reception? We will be taking a cruise from the Tanjung Rhu for sunset and then would like to have dinner on land for 26 people and have a band play etc. Any ideas will be a great help! Thank you |

Hi, the Tanjung Rhu beach is one of the prettiest on the island. Why don't you speak with the hotel's F&B managers and request for a table by the beach. They will arrange everything for you (setting, band, champagne, flowers) and you have to choice of choosing the menu from their restaurants.

I agree the Tg Rhu is beautiful but so far they have not been overly flexible for us to have some tables set up and the band play closeby. The hotel have a band which we would have to fit in with, the last time I asked, the hotel were unsure which restaurant they would be playing at...

Which hotel are you staying at for the actual wedding ceremony? If you are staying at Tanjung Rhu and will arranging the wedding with them, I am sure they can be flexible. Had my wedding ceremony and dinner at the Andaman and the hotel arranged everything for us including the transport, menu, flowers, video recording, band, candlelight dinner by the beach etc etc, so I'm sure the Tanjung Rhu should be able to do the same, unless; they "won't" let non-guest have their 'premises'.

Hi Charlie, I arranged for a friend's beach wedding & party in Lighthouse Restaurant. Small budget and everything went on fine. They were very very happy about the whole thing. Their email is <shucor@streamyx.com> and speak to the Operations Manager, Chef Bahar. Happy Planning!

Thanks for the responses, we are staying at the Tg Rhu!! I will see what response I get from another email... the lighthouse restaurant looks very nice and I've sent them a enquiry. Any idea how long it will take to sail from the Tg Rhu to the Lighthouse? Many thanks again Charlie

Dear Charlie, if you want to cruise from Tanjung Rhu to Pantai Cenang or Pantai Tengah, you would have to cruise half around the island. No matter if you go via north west or east south, this cruise takes at least some 4 to 6 hours, depending on the boat, the wind and the current. In any case, I would not recommend doing this! Both tours are not the nicest that you can do! Actually if you have only 4 to 6 hours, I would start the cruise either from Kuah, Pantai Cenang or Awana Porto Malay. And this is because the cruising ground around Pulau Dayang Bunting is much nicer and in any weather conditions qualm. The scenery is stunning as when you just sail around from north to west there is not much to see - just a lot of water, ha! In case you opt for a professional restaurant for your reception I would highly recommend Alex, Tapas Bar. He has done some catering for me and is super professional! He opens up a new place between Bon Ton and Pelangi in a few weeks – that could also be an option for you! Eva
