Guys,

Does anyone know how long is the ride from Almaty to Bishkek by bus? And what's the fare?

Thanks!

The ride from Almaty to Bishkek takes about 10 hours because of customs delays on the border. The road construction was completed last year, so now the ride is quite comfortable. I'm not sure about the fare. I guess it's about 1500 tenge ($12).

Maybe a bit less. I used to travel to Kyrgyzstan a couple of years ago, when the road was under construction and the speed was very low plus 2-3 hours at the border. Maybe the situation has changes since a new road was comissionned.

Best wishes,

Denis

So, does anyone know? How long does it take now (July, 2007) to travel from Bishkek to Almaty? And then the return? By bus, or by train? Or taxi? And the cost? I will appreciate any information!! Thanks, Paul

There are mini vans leaveing for Bishkek from Sairan bus station every day, a few times a day.

They cost 1500 tenge, which is about $13.

It will take you 7-10 hours depending on how fast the van drives.

Taxi takes less time. 5-6 hours, but is significantly more expensive.

Hope this helps.

Saule.

I travelled lately Almaty-Bishkek-Almaty.

It took me 2,5-3 hours to get to Bishkek and the same time to return to Almaty. Border crossing takes about 15-45 minutes.

I went to Biskek by car, but on the way back I had to take the minibus and it cost me 800 tenge (6,5 USD). But it might differ.

The buses to Bishkek leave from Sairan bus station.

The buses from Bishkek leave from the main bus station.
