Looking for some advice for a kid-friendly itinerary. We plan to fly into Tokyo and spend a few days there, then take the overnight couchette to Hokkaido for the experience. Going back home, we can fly out of Hokkaido or take the Shinkansen back to Tokyo (because my son is a big train fan). We do plan to rent a car in Hokkaido.
My questions are:
1. This sounds a bit complicated and expensive to myself as well. I was wondering if I should just stick to Hokkaido and perhaps go to Aomori and skipping Tokyo altogether.
2. I know many people go to Hokkaido for the summer scenery, but I probably need some balance with kids around. I am planning to do a farm stay, visit a ranch, Furano (for flowers), Shiroi Koibito, Otaru, Zoo, fruit picking...any suggestions?
Appreciate any advice.
