aqaba - choice of hotels ??????

We will be staying one night in Aqaba - arriving late afternoon and leaving in the morning. July 2013

What hotel do you suggest ? Taba or in Aqaba ?

At night, we would like to discover Aqaba, maybe walk around, grab a bite to eat and/or see some type of entertainment ! Is this possible ? Any suggestions ?

Thinking of Raddisson Blu, Marina, Doubletree or the Intercontinental !

Since you only have half a day and you want to enjoy strolling around Aqaba at night, stay at one of the hotels near the center, DoubleTree or Intercontinental. They are located pretty close to each other so have a look at the reviews and then make your choice.

We stopped at the Al Qidra in Aqaba and can highly recommend it

But it is obviously not as posh as the hotels you have mentioned.

Dear Friends, We also stayed last year at the Al Qidra Hotel. It was great. It is centrally located, the rooms are quite nice and clean, the breakfast was good. And the hotel manager is fantastic. He is extremely helpful, and he really goes the extra length to make your stay enjoyable. The hotel is not super luxurious, but we were not looking for that kind of experience.

best, Tip

Was there access to a private beach and snorkelling at your recommended hotel?

Go doubletree - great hotel and offer free access to beach club 15 mins away. Look on Hilton website - we waited to get a special rate; we paid USD125 with breakfast. Aqaba was a lot of fun - great local food and good base for day trip to petra. Stay a 3 nights if you can.

Advice on day trip from Aqaba to Petra? Did you pick up a tour in Aqaba or travel from Aqaba to Petra and then pick up a tour in Petra? If so which companies and do you have contact details please?
