Looking for alternative near Hoi An

Hello we have been to Hoi An before and based ourselves at the Victoria Resort outside of town on the beach and it was lovely. We may return for a few days this May but are looking for somewhere on the beach nearby but cheaper. Ideally on the sea side of the road.Any suggestions please?

The other thought, was to spend a few days elsewhere along the north east coast - looking for a good pool, sea view and lots of exercising the kindle.

We are also taking the train to Nanning in Southern China from Hanoi - any thoughts?

Thank you.

I can tell you that the bus from Hanoi to Nanning is a much better choice than the train

The Sunrise Resort Hotel is the latest to open and their rates are probably cheaper... there are also many new very impressive B&B's and self contained houses at An Bang Beach opening up.. Just google them, even some of the new ones are showing up in google search..

Have you considered Ana Mandara at Thuan An beach near Hue? Interesting little village with shops and relatively unspoilt. The resort has a large swimming pool, is right on the beach and does a great buffett breakfast.

We got a basic (deluxe) room with a balcony and day bed overlooking the pool, beach and gardens.

Although not cheap, the resort restaurants served excellent food and there are a number of beach shacks very close by selling super fresh grilled seafood and other stuff.

We were there in May last year and a taxi from Hue cost VND 230,000. We got the driver's card for our return trip as the resort wanted $US28.

Agoda is showing basic room for $AUD100 at the moment.

I also stayed at Ana Mandara in Hue... It was a wonderful quiet escape and the village outside the gates is still not ruined by tourism.

Thank you very much excellent suggestion.

We have stayed at the excellent Ana Mandara in Nah Trang for over a week, so we thought that was an excellent idea of yours. Also we know Hue and like its atmosphere. So we have now booked a duplex room for a week at a very competitive pice with Agoda.com.

By the way am I the only person to find the website for the Ana Mandara in Hue to be very poor? It does not seem to be backed by the Evason group as in Nah Trang?

Hue is a favourite with us as well. If you like Bahn Mi Thit check out the bakery in the village. They're on the small side but at VND7,000, a bargain.

An Australian had taken over as manager last year and they were shooting a new ad campaign when we were there. They said they were doing a new website so who can say? The resort, not the bakery!

Hope you enjoy it : )
