Tapestry Holidays |
|
As a previous customer I was sorry to hear that Tapestry Holidays have ceased trading with immedite effect. Our first holiday to Kalkan was with Tapestry and we found them to be very professional on this and all our subsequent holidays with them. I hope all the staff in Kalkan are able to find alternative employment. |

Yes - they were pretty good - we travelled with them many times although this year made our own arrangements. I'm not entirely surprised though - last year when we went with them in October there were quite a few empty seats on the plane. There was a lot of talk about them in Kalkan this year - we spoke to a couple of unhappy ex-Tapestry staff during our trip there in May. They didn't have many hotels to offer this year and not everyone wants a villa or apartment.

I can only echo the same sentiments, we always enjoyed our holidays booked through Tapestry, we found them very professional, and had only just returned from Kalkan with them in July. Its sad for all concerned.

Have stayed at the Asfiya in Kalkan with Tapestry 3 times and feel really concerned for all the staff and Sermin the manager who always made us very welcome. I wonder if they will carry on trading or have to lay off all their staff? Sorry for Tapestry and reps like Julie in Kalkan Beverley

I think that when Tapestry dumped Göcek as a destination a few years ago their regular clients dumped Tapestry, made thier own arrangements directly with the hotels and booked their own flights, so maybe this is the way for Kalkanites to go from now on.

If you look on the Exclusive Escapes website (they're the company who took some of the Tapestry Hotels/Villas when the company directors split a few years ago) you'll see that they're offering to take on certain Tapestry Hotels, including the Asfiya. Don't know what the prices will be though - expensive probably! I'm sure the Asfiya has many repeat guests who would probably travel independently if the hotel decides to carry on. It is a shame though that things will be uncertain for them for the rest of the season.

Tapestry were a superb company to travel with but they priced themselves out of the market and got too greedy. They dumped certain properties, but this was to our advantage. We bought one of the apartments which Tapestry used and we're thrilled with it. We've also had previous Tapestry guests contact us and have been able to rent it out. Kalkanites can survive without Tapestry!

I agree with jinfizz in that I think Tapestry priced themselves out of the market. We continued to travel with them because of the 2 for 1 deals they offered us (which were still more expensive that some other operators, but they offered us what we wanted). We stayed at an ex-Tapestry Hotel earlier this year and they told us that they were still owed money from last season! We were also told that at least 2 of the hotels in Kalkan who were still with Tapestry were finishing with them at the end of this season. Maybe they had an inkling of what was to come?

We,like many who've suscribed to this forum, travelled with Tapestry and had fabulous holidays. The writing was on the wall when they dumped their crown in the jewel hotels like Kalkan Regency and Trapazaki Bay in Kefelonia. Hidden Turkey ate into their portfolio and they were finally left with the bare bones. I do hope that Eddie and all the staff at the Kalkan Elite will survive this blow, right at the peak of the season as I do for all the other hotel staff and reps in Kalkan who served us all so well. I think Tapestry blazed the way for "how to do it" and wish their London Staff well with thanks for a first class service . Thanks for the holidays wev'e had with you over the past 6 years. Eric Davey.

Hello. We were booked to travel on our first Tapestry holiday on Sun 20th Aug (Kalkan Elite) and were desperately disappointed not to be able to go. However, some enterprising hotels have set up simple website pages to enable Tapestry customers to book directly with them. Therefore, we've booked directly with Eddie at the Kalkan Elite and managed to get a last minute flight. I recommend the Global Travel Centre for flights - they were the cheapest I could find at such short notice. Good luck to all of you who are trying to re-organise holidays.

We too had many happy holiday with tapestry, Kalkan Turunc, Ovrvick etc, we thought they were superb, but yes very pricey, however we got what we wanted from them and you always got just what you expected rooms and so on so much better than the mass travel companies, we have now booked with exclusive escapes and all I can say is I wish the Hotels and staff in Turkey all the very best hope they manage to keep there heads above water and get taken on by a good travel company.
