How do we get there and will it be hot if we do?!

My partner and I are considering our first visit to Tunisia in April and have been advised that Djerba will be the warmest place to be?! Please can anyone confirm this to be the case as we are looking for a beach holiday so weather is obviously important!

Also, please could anyone advise how to get there as we are struggling to find tour operators going to Djerba in April?!

All advise gratefully received.

There is a company called TunisiaFirst

http://www.tunisiafirst.co.uk/

They will arrange tailor made holidays for you, although will tend to be more expensive than the mainstream companies. If theres no charters flights you would have to get scheduled flight to Tunis then connecting domestic flight by Sevenair down to Djerba. Because of flight times you may have to stay first or last night in Tunis.

The BBC weather forecast for today gives Sousse 15C and Djerba 17C - so only couple degrees warmer. So really you have to consider if worth the extra expense and effort for Djerba if only couple degrees difference.

As Wanderin star says very little difference in temps to say Port El Kantoui plus if you want to get out from time to time much more to do there plus Sousse is only a Taxi ride away.

These links will help. Again as Wanderin star says to go with mainstreeen companies to Por El Kantoui will be much cheaper .

Should you choose to go and I hope so we love Tunisia. Change some GB cash when you arrive at the Tunisian airport for Kantoui that will be Enfida about 1 hour away. Hire a safe deposit box for all your cash passports tickets jewery etc. You can get to it any time to get what you require each day

You are correct regarding getting to Djerba direct in April .

I looked at 3 popular sites T/Cook Thomson and TravelRepublic .

They dont appear to fly there before May.

Consider the other resorts.

Sousse, Hammamet and Port el Kantaoui .

Plenty options from London Gatwick to these destinations in April with TC and Thomson

April in Djerba generally the weather is good, the days are sunny and warm sun all predict even a sweater for the evening!

you can take flight only if there is no flight + hotel with TO

Thank you all for your advice - think if there isn't too much difference temperature wise then we will try PEK, and look at Djerba again when we are able to travel at another time. Quite happy with wearing a fleece/jacket in the evenings, but would be nice to lay on the beach during the day so fingers crossed! Thanks again

If you are coming from England I think you will enjoy the weather in April. I live on Djerba at the moment. There have already been 28 C days. There are normally 3 direct flights from Tunis, to Djerba Island a day; 9:00am ish, 1:00pm ish , and 6:00pm ish. It is an hour flight and they are easy domestic flights to take from Tunis. Djerba is a great place to come and relax on the beach. There are over 100 hotels to pick from here.

Enjoy your time.
