Clean up Patong.

We have just returned from our 12th trip to Patong. Have always loved it. Very dissappointed this time. The rubbish and rats around the street are getting worse and worse. Is there anyone out there who agrees with me? Maybe we could start a clean-up Patong campaign. I was in a little shop and a rat ran across in front of me - I freaked out and the Thai just laughed like I was mad. Ugh.

'Ghekkos are great' Agree anything that eats the mossies is great.

But too many rats is not good.

Agree totally that Patong isn't as clean as previous years. We stay in Karon but enjoy going into Patong for a day or two. We got back last week. In fairness to other areas of Phuket we spent 6 nights in Rawai and I found it clean we also thought that Karon has retained its standards.

Didn't visit Phuket this year but we always think Patong is a bit more unkept than other parts of Phuket, that's why we prefer Kata but I suppose it's probably because it's alot more busier than other areas.

Hmmm just returned and didnt think it any worse than previous. Infact I think the streets are cleaner than a few years back.

Yes there are rats, but as said thats part and parcel of a tropical country.

the thai "authorities" tend to

remove/eradicate cats as they breed too much

cats breed like rats cute as they are

you see them one day the next there gone

cneck the bins
