Which Hotel? Travelling with an 8 year old

Can anyone give indication which hotel from the following 4 have the best pool view and or access and an indication of best rooms based on their experience with the stay at that hotel. My preference is a ground floor room. Mercure, Patong Merlin, Horizon Patong Beach and the Duangjitt. Thanks so much for your input, its greatly appreciated! :)

There are plenty of pool view rooms at Patong Merlin, but I don't remember any rooms actually opening out into the water. You'd have to jump over your balcony (it's do-able). Not the flashest hotel, but good atmosphere, and great pools for an 8 y.o. The biggest you can run and dive into, which is uncommon in Patong. Any room you stay in is only a very short walk to one of the three pools. The views from most of the pool view rooms are nice enough, but if you are ground floor, you may get a lot of walk by traffic as the path is alongside. Small rooms compared to other places. Building 4 is popular, and has refurbished rooms.

Duangjitt Family suites are two storey, and downstairs has a door that opens out to the pool area, with the pool just a few steps away, so I guess it's not "true"pool access either, as in you don't step out into the water. The Family Suite is a great room, nicest we've ever stayed in. Duangjitt has great pools (the freeform one is HUGE), and lovely, lovely grounds. If you were just choosing on pools and grounds, and can afford the Family Suite, you would definitely stay here over the PM. The pools make PM's pools look like puddles, and the grounds make PM's grounds look like a nursery. But it's true, the Duangjitt does lack atmosphere compared to the PM. Nice views of the pool from many of the other rooms, such as the pool view rooms next to the family suites, and a more distant pool view from others, even some of the Superior rooms. The other Suites section, where the Honeymoon and regular suites are, have a lovely view of the smallest (but deepest) pool, but maybe not the place for an 8 y.o. as it's a little secluded and quiet.

Haven't stayed at the other two, but would pick PM over the Mercure. Don't know anything about the Horizon.
