 JBR 6 dec - 9 dec

It was a successful budget trip for me and i feel i need to share the stories to trip advisor as without them I wont have a good time. :)

1) Upon arriving at the airport, I went straight to the right INSIDE the airport to take the minibus which cost 180 bhat each. It took only 2-3 minutes before we heading off to Patong. The minibus made one stop at their sales office to promote the room. Just nicely tell them you already booked yours. We also use Minibus to the airport on our way back.

2) I've stay at Club bamboo resort. Cost only 1400 bhat/night. It was slightly bit far from the beach, 2km but they provide every hour of shuttle bus. However you need to take Tuk Tuk to go back to the hotel and here you need a great bargaining skilll. It definitely cheaper if we rent a bike but we were too scared with the reckless driver. I saw 2 accident with our own eyes!

3) Book from Andamanda for day trip to phi-phi island. 1000 bhat for one day by cruise. Enjoy 2 hours journey very much. My cousin does not know how to swim but she wanted to give a snorkeling a try. one of the staff accompany and swam her for the whole 1 hour. What a great hospitality with such a good price.

4) We booked city tour with Mr Joseph from ephuket. He can be reach at info@ephuket.net. We got a good price and Free VIP ticket for Simon Carbaret. Our tour guide, Mr Jum was awesome!. He speak english very well and also he has 20 years of experience.

5) We are muslim, and there are plenty of Halal food there. One particular stall we love called Kusuma. Their seafood is to die for!.

Sorry for the long report but I really hope it will help someone else who plan to do a budget trip like us. :)

Hi I am planning a budget trip in Feb next year (only about 8 week to go)

Can you give us some tips to eat cheaply and if so let us know if Halal is cheaper as my friend is Muslim and he would like to go with me also.

Any other advise we would live to here from you, just send me an email to sharx@live.com.au

Hotmailer,

1) I think, Halal food's price with non-halal food is not much different. We had subway tuna sandwich which cost 70baht, we also ate at Cairo restaurant which I had naan bread and briani chicken rice cost 250 bhat. But our favourite halal restaurant is Kusuma which cost from 60 bhat to 200 bhat depending what you had. Kusuma open at 4pm.

2) Hotel, we booked through online at booking.com/phuket . If you have time, try email to the hotel straight away and ask for the best price. There were few times the price that hotel gave us were slightly cheaper than online price.

Good luck for your upcoming trip. I hope this information will help you in any way. Do ask me if you have any other question / email fracky_gal@yahoo.com

Missd, glad you had a good trip. It certainly makes it easier coming to the forums first, and thanks for the JBR>

To pomdj.

The northern end of Patong beach has 2 mosques, and a large muslim community. There are many halal options on Phrabaramee Rd around the mosques.

Hi!

Seems like you had a great time. Pity you couldn't stay a bit longer, but now that you've had a taste of the island you can plan and prepare for a nice long trip one day!

Thanks so much for your lovely report. It is just so nice to read about folk who really enjoy their holidays! I love my work, but as the old saying goes "a bad day on holidays beats a good day at work"!

Loved the fact that your 'budget holiday' didn't preclude you from spending heaps on shopping! Sometimes, even your best laid plans have to be altered.

Cheers

Phil

Cornflakes,

I wish i could stay longer..but the experience certainly will help me plan for future long trip..maybe I'll call it 'conscious spending trip' instead of ' budget trip' after this heheh

Davo,

No problem mate. glad i could help...
