Hope you have a great time. Patong to Phuket Town catch the blue bus runs along beach road around the circle and up into Phuket Town bus depot. Should be 30 bhat just flag it down and press the buzzer to get off. It is slow - I guess about an hour . At the bus depot you can catch a similar bus to Karon and Kata Beach same price also at least an hour's journey I caught this one sevreal times last month. Drivers wewre generally very friendly but don't speak much english so take a map. From Simon's caberet to town I don't think you have much choice either walk it or Tuk - Tuk I've never seen scooter taxi's at this venuie. It might be cheaper to shop around for a package from the tour agents as this normally includes transport..

Hi

These are my suggestions:-

I see you are there on a Sunday night try to get to Phuket Town night market. It's really cheap, good food and a great atmosphere. It starts early evening so you can probably get the bus to Phuket Town to get there but you'll have to use a tuk tuk/taxi to take you back ( about 400 baht), maybe try to find someone else to share the cost.

Also many of the taxi operators on the Beach Road offer free trips to the Jewellery store in Phuket Town- if it's a rainy or overcat day it's worth a visit. I found a guy who was not busy he took me to 2 stores and then dropped me off at Central Festival afterwards. We did not buy anything at the stores but the driver got stamps in his book which I understand gives him 100 baht of fuel per person he takes there.

OTOP market in Patong is about the cheapest in Patong for shopping

Phi Phi is definetly worth a trip, go by speed boat it's worth the extra money if you're only in Phuket for a few days, shop around once you get there and I played one operator off against another.

If you want a tour of the island some of the drivers will take you out for the day for around 500 baht which is very reasonable provided you are prepared to visit one or two of the shops where they earn commisssion. It may be a little more than this given you are going in high season.

Have a great trip

Blue buses leave every 20 minutes in the daytime from south end of the beach road opposite Holiday Inn. 25 baht to Phuket Town.

2) Patong to Simon Carbaret show?

Motorbike taxi should be 40 baht from anywhere in Patong.

If you are on your own and money is tight better take the minibus for 150 baht.

Lorna,

Luckily i'll be arrive there on sunday 6th so the night market that you suggested definitely will put into my consideration! :) but I will be arrive in sunday morning about 8am, need to go to patong to survey the trip (phi2 island) and check in hotel.. I wonder if it worth it to go back to phuket town for the sunday night market afterward?

add list:

5) OTOP market (check!)

6) tour island or self touring... (depending on the budget) - check!

Phuket rex,

somebody advised me to not rent a bike or take motorbike taxi as it is soo dangerous consider high of accident rate among tourist in Phuket. Is that true?

I was planing to rent a bike for self touring before that actually.

Minibus sound cool.. Where can i take the minibus?

I'll be there with my cousin. Just 2 of us.

Riding a bike here isn't that bad. It's all I've done for 4 years. Yes there are lots of accidents but they are relative to the numbers of bikes...4 or 5 times as many bikes as cars on the roads plus many riders don't wear helmets and are not capable riders!

Just ride carefully and be aware of what is going on around you. It's a great way to get around cheaply with freedom and you'll get a bike for around 150baht a day. Always wear a helmet and carry your driving licence with you.

Hi,

I will be leaving for Phuket on 29th Nov. Have book JC tour for Phang Nga and canoe full day trip. They offered quite a cheap rate, 1700baht for the trip as well as trip to Phi Phi island and on top of that, they pick you up from the airport for free.
