where to stay

hi. We have been invited to a wedding in march 2006. The happy couple are staying at a hotel called Rayavadee. this hotel looks a bit out of our price range but we would like to somewhere close by. we've been told Ao-nang is only a short boat ride away.

We are then going to Koh Samui for 5 nights and have been told that the Chaweng Regent Hotel is nice, (or anywhere close by)?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Check out the Ao Nang Villa - nice hotel with 2 large beautiful pools. The location is perfect. The beach is just across a small street and restaurants and bars are all within short walking distance.

You mean march 2007?

If you prefere to stay as close to Rayavadee as possible during the wedding, you can choose one of the hotels at Railey west or Railey east, instead of Ao Nang. Then you can walk to the wedding and don`t need the boat ride at all. And if the beach is important for you, choose Railey west instead of east. East is closer to Rayavadee, but it`s not a good beach.

When you got to Samui, bear in mind that the whole of the Chaweng stretch is very crowded and the street backing it is incredibly smelly (was there in August). You won't get any peace on the beach there - lots of beach games and screeching jet ski! If you want relative tranquility, choose a hotel in Choeng Mon.

thanks very much. That has been really helpful. Now all i've got to do is find some cheap flights.
