Monica4- or other Hua Hin advisor please help

Hi

Booked a trip to Thailand for July/August coming from Singapore to Krabi staying at Ao Nang villas for 1 week then we are considering a second week in Hua Hin and have been looking at Baan Sar Suan houses.

Has anybody stayed here? I've been told it's 150m to the beach, is it a nice beach suitable for swimming?

Are there any shops & decent restaurants within walking distance

Can you please advise on the cost for private a/c transfer we're a family of 5.

Thanks

Sorry don't know those houses at all, I know Hua Hin pretty wel but have not come across them.

What sort of accommodation were you looking for ?

Hotel, resort, bungalows, B&B ?

From Ao nang to Hua Hin you can take the express bus from Krabi Town or otherwise get a mini-van with driver from Ao Nang to Hua Hin, that would cost something in the rough region of about THB 6,000 ( about USD 170 ) but that would give you your own van and driver and you can perhaps stop on the way for lunch at perhaps Bang Saphan to break the journey. From Ao Nang to Hua hin would be about 8 hours by road

Not houses but there are family holiday apartments on the beach at Chom View Holiday Apartments, might be worth looking at.

Do you know the beach for those first ones?

The local songthaew pick-up buses run all along the road north and south and the fare is only 10 Baht(!) even for a loong distance, so as long as you are within walking distance of the road getting to and from town is cheap and easy.

Hi Sue

We stayed at Baan Sar Suan last August and had a fantastic holiday. We're coming back again this year. There were nine of us in our group and there was plenty of space for everyone. The pool is enormous and most of the time we had it to ourselves. The beach is 5 minutes away and the centre of Hua Hin is about 10 minutes by tuk tuk or taxi. We never paid more than 100 baht each way. We did our shopping at Tesco Lotus - don't know if there are any shops within walking distance. Most of the time we went into the town centre to eat. But a few times we went across the road to a restaurant called Free Kick - 2 courses + drinks for less than £2 per person. They have Thai and European dishes. We also ate at the Hyatt once, which is about a 10 minute walk. Nice, but comparatively expensive. There are other restaurants nearby that we plan to try this year. Hope that helps

Hi Sue

http://www.click4holidayhomes.com/3571

I booked the house directly from the owner via this website. We have booked it again for most of August, so unfortunately this will not be of much help to you. But at least you can get an idea of what the houses are like - they are all pretty much the same, I think. Hope Brittle Star get back to you soon - maybe we'll see you there. If you have any more questions, just ask.

Elaine.
