When I go during June - November to Praslin I avoid to stay on Grand Anse area for 2 reasons: plenty of seaweed in the water and on the beach which make snorkeling practically impossible; staying on Anse Volbert - Cote d'Or area is more convenient for boat daily trips to nearby islands.

Last time when I visited Grand Anse on November it was really very hard to go into the water: seaweed was everywhere. The same situation was on August 2010.

Without hiring a car you will experience the Seychellois "timetable" of blue Tata buses: sorry but there is no timetable. We stayed on Anse Possession area and we waited for the buses several times when we decided not to rent a car. Sometimes we waited for 15 mins, but there were situations when we waited for 40 mins, the bus did not come and Darryl, a really helpful australian painter took us with his 37 year old Mini Moke from Anse Possession to Anse Volbert.

So it is advisable to rent a car if you want to spend your time visiting Anse Lazio, Anse Georgette or Valle du Mai.

And one more thing: buses do not run after 6-6.15 pm.
