I would second La Scala - great setting and lovely food.

On Praslin we liked Tante Mimi at the Casino, not an outdoor ocean setting or anything, but a nicely run, colonial plantation style air conditioned place above the casino. I can recommend the lobster bisque and the smoked marlin salad. 3 courses with wine will set you back about 50 pounds a head.

I also liked the restaurant at La Reseve, the food was good and the location over the water is best enjoyed before the sun has set. Food was maybe not quite as good as Tante Mimi (although we dined in low season and so not many guests there) but certainly of a standard you'd expext from the quality of hotel and the cost was marginally less at 35 to 40 pounds per head.

On La Digue the best place we ate was the Patatran restaurant at the L'Ocean hotel nice place, good food and service and price was around 25-30pounds per head - with beers though not wine. Its not in the same category as those listed above, but then La Digue has many other charms other than the cuisine. I also enyoed my Pizza at Gregoire's on La Digue, great choice for a cheap and cheerful meal as is Chez Marston which also offers good simple food at keen prices in a very relaxed atmosphere.

La Scala On Mahe Island is Great, very well priced and has a sort of romantic feel. It is in Bel ombre near to Beau Vallon. I owners are very welcoming.

The boat house- a buffet style barbecue resturant in Beau Vallon, very cheap (Approx $15 each, set meal) not fancy at all, but serve fresh wholesome creole food. Beautiful!!!!

There is also a really nice Indian Resturant based at the Coral Stand Hotel, can't think of the name but is very, very good. you will need to book a table as it gets very busy.

Hope this helps?
