Snorkelling off the beach

We went to the Maldives (Kurumba)a few years ago and loved being able to snorkel from the beach. Can anyone tell me where in Mahe I can do this. I would prefer a self catering establishment as not into the 5 star glitz, rather something comfortable and relaxing.

Anse Soleil Beachcomber has a great beach and good snorkeling. it is not 5 star, but nor is it self catering.

Also Anse Takamaka and the Sunset Beach resort beach in Glacis are worth to try. A word of warning regarding Takamaka as there is some current during June-September timeframe, but at least last week it was good for snorkeling.

Anse Takamaka is a beautiful beach, but like the previous post says there are sometimes strong currents, so check out local conditions before snorkeling.
