Any hotels on a nice beach near town & without hawkers?

Looking to stay at a nice hotel/villa on a good beach, where you can lay out on the beach without being bothered by hawkers AND not be too secluded - where you can walk to a village/shops/bars. This rules out Lombok Oberei and a couple other places. Does such a place exist on Lombok or Bali ?

Hi navinrjohnson,

I can not be defininate and maybe someone who has stayed recently can let us know for sure but I think the hawkers are not allowed on the beach out the front of the Sheritan sengiggi hotel. They place sun lounges out on the sand out the front of the hotel and rake the sand around the area each morning. It is a luxurious hotel with a great pool area and gardens. You can walk to the local shops, restaurants and bars etc.Jules.

Sheraton is about the only hotel where you can lay on beach without the company of hawkers because the Sheraton pay them off. In Indonesia it is my understanding that up to high tide mark it is public access.
