Greetings Bali Lovers!!

It's gonna be our first time to Bali and am planning to stay at the new Novotel Nusa Dua. Ive looked at their map but i just still can't figure out where it is?? Are there ample options for dining out?I tend to think that hotel foods are sterile plus obviously expensive than local restaurants..How much is the taxi fare out here in Nusa Dua?

thanks a bunch

Hi AVF,

This map should help.

Not a great lover of Nusa Dua myself, not much there apart from the hotels and some restaurants.

Hi Frangipani & Pete

The map u referred to is the Novotel Coralia. The one we are trying to find is the new Novotel Nusa Dua. Considering it is new, we are gonna give it a shot. Maybe this could shed some light.

I heard bad reviews on Nusa Dua area, so if we are gonna venture out which is better - catch a cab or hire a driver??

Hi AVF,

The new Novotel is located in front of Ayodya Hotel (ex-Hilton), it's next to Bali Golf & Country Club. When are you planning to stay here? Looks like they're still under construction. I saw the moke up room a while back and they look lovely. Not so much Balinese style though. It's a bit modern in design.

Food wise, Nusa Dua doesn't have as many restaurants as Kuta or Seminyak but there are some decent ones nearby. You can go to Bumbu Bali in Tanjung Benoa, around 10 minutes away from new Novotel or a simple cozy place in Geger Beach, also 10 minutes away. Taxi fare is more or less the same all around Bali. You wont find much difference. Using taxi or renting a car will depend on your daily activity. Let me know what you want to do and I'll make the suggestion! :)

Take care,

If you are committed to doing the hotel thing in Nusa Dua, the best Balinese food is Rajahs at the Nusa Dua beach Hotel. Bumbu Bali is interestingfood, but lacking in ambience.

Along Pantai Mengiat in Nusa Dua, and Jl Pratama on Tanjung Benoa, at the Bali Collection and at the Bualu Markets there are lots and lots of restaurants.

I'm not sure what you mean by the area is bad - but it is very safe for walking and there are plenty of shops.

I would pick up a taxi on the main road - just flag one down. There are plenty.

If going to a restaurant, just phone them to pick you up and return you to your hotel. They will gladly do this for free at most restaurants.

We usually go to Kuta/Legian for serious shopping, but all daily needs are available in Nusa Dua or Benoa - plus more.

yeah you got it right, that is the Novotel we are looking for. Anyway we're not so much into the balinese styleroom as we hail we from the same region, so we dont expect much for a "culture" based room. And we got good prices for the rooms. Nice suggestions on the restaurants, would certainly look it up. thanks!

yah, Rajahs are rated excellently in some websites that i had surf. They are a bit pricey tho...On the taxi/driver i got a driver who charges 400000IDR per day? is that worth it?

waiting for your replies!! :)

Hi AVF,

I know coz I live 15 minutes away. Hehe!

Hmm.. driver can be tricky. 400000IDR is a normal price. Not expensive nor cheap. The problem with driver is that you need to find a good one. I have never personally hire one but saw lots of posting in this forum on how people feel "cheated" by their drivers. They could take you to places you don't wanna go so they will get a commission or they could not take you to places you wanna go if that is too much trouble for them. Thats why I think it's important for you to get yourself a good one. If you can post the driver's name, then maybe other TAs can give their comment.

Have a good holiday!
