WE will be staying at Adi Dharma Cottages on Legion Jalan. Is there some where close to buy a sim card for our mobil phone? Which one is the best to get and at what cost?
Many places you can by sim card and you can ask the reception at your hotel and they can point out the closest store to buy one.
There are many providers in Indonesia and major provider are XL and Simpati. Many sim-card offer, not just for call but also for your Blackberry or for having internet connection.
Just pay what is on the packet!!! I paid twice what I should have on time for the "connection fee"
There is heaps around Addi Dharma and you won't have a problem finding a sim card. If all else fails, jump in a cab and head to mataharis, there is a little cell phone booth next to the supermarket and the girls there are really good and won't try and rip you off.
When we arrived at the airport in mid June, there was a huge sim card stand outside on the way to the carpark. I think it was mentari sim cards by Indosat. You could have a look there on your way through. I don't know how much they were and didn't ask because our driver who picked us up had already organised some for us. He got us XL sim cards which he picked up for 5,000rp each and it included 2000 to 3000rp of credit. Don't pay much more than this.
If you do a search for SIM o n the Bali forum you will find a considerable resource of information and discussions on obtaining and using a SIM in Bali, including costs.
If you do a search you will a result like this... http://www.tripadvisor.com/SearchForums?scope=2&ff=7219&geo=294225&q=sim&sub-search.x=0&sub-search.y=0&sub-search=Click+to+search+forums&returnTo=__2F__
Just click on some of them and see what you find.
