Resorts - Surprisingly Nice Trip

Just returned from 2 night stay at Resorts. Hadn't been there in about a year, and somehow, I was still able to get 2 nights comped (Sunday/Monday).

Liked the new carpet in casino and all the changes they made. I stayed in room 522. Looks like 522 used to be 2 rooms, and they converted it to one large room, with 2 bathrooms. Was huge room. It was beautiful. I was shocked when I walked in, since you never know what you are getting until you open the door.

Casino was dead on Sunday afternoon/night. Played craps, and walked away up a few hundred, after being down almost $600.00. Was playing either by myself or with one other shooter most of the time. Got comp tix to see some singer that night at Resorts (can't even remember his name). He was singer/impersonator, and was pretty good. Did songs from mostly 50s/60s/70s, and sounded like most of the guys he did. Music geared to the 70+ age group, and from the crowd that was there, he hit the right age group. I tipped maitre d a whopping $5, and sat right up near stage.

Played some more craps at Resorts after show, and hit for almost a grand. Again, hardly anyone playing, so I was rolling fast and lucky.

Walked down to Showboat, and quickly lost a few hundred at craps. Walked through Taj, but didn't play there. I don't like the vibe at Taj, and hardly ever play there. Not sure why. Looks like it's getting old. I prefer Resorts to Taj alot. Bet that wouldn't make Mr. Trump too happy to hear.

Next morning, I played some craps before breakfast, and I always lose when I play before I eat. Well, this time was no different, and I dropped by mandatory $300 in less time then it takes to crack an egg. However, this time, my luck was a little different. I sat at slot machine (Rock Around the Clock machine), still waiting for my gf to come down, and got a bonus round. I hit the jackpot, which for that machine, was $1K. Never really play slots, so that was biggest slot hit for me ever. I was shocked when I hit. Never expected it.

Ate breakfast at Breadsticks. Was decent enough.

Drove to Ballys and played there for a bit. Lost at craps, hit a triple at horse book to make it back. Lost at slots.

Drove to Tropicana. Had quick bite at Hooters. Checked out the decorations at The Quarter. Very nice. Lost at craps. Not so nice. Won a few bucks playing Roulette slot machine in The Quarter while waiting for gf who was shopping. Drove back to Resorts, and had dinner buffet right before they closed at 8pm (why so early closing for buffet???). Buffet is not so good at Resorts. Only $20/person, but still not worth it. I say only $20, because that is what you pay for sit down breakfast, so with everything included, $20 isn't so bad. Did a little bit more gambling after dinnfer, and called it a night. Drove home Tuesday morning, and getting ready for New Year's Eve wedding. Time to get dressed.

Happy New Year everyone!!! Hope everyone has some good hits in 2014!

No - wasn't my wedding. Was nephew's wedding night. Had fun. It's funny - entire wedding party was heading to AC New Year's Day. Hope they made some money!

Hi everyone,

Hope everyone is doing well. Charlie11725 I'm glad to hear you had a really good time at Resorts. After reading your TR, I'm really considering to stay here, and after further research I'm happy to see they have an indoor pool as well. I just wanted to ask everyone: Do all the rooms have 2 bathrooms? Or are the 2 bathroom rooms in a specific tower? Thank you all for your time, and wish everyone lots of Good Luck in 2014!

I am pretty sure all the rooms DO NOT have 2 bathrooms. I've stayed at Resorts several times, and this was first time I had a room with 2 bathrooms. Funny thing is, didn't notice there was second bathroom until 2nd night of stay. Door to second bathroom was closed on arrival (thought it was connecting door to room next door), and maid left it open after cleaning, and that is how we noticed it.

>>After reading your TR, I'm really considering to stay here...<<

the rooms at resorts are all over the map. many of the rooms are large, but they are sparsely furnished. many of the rooms have large empty spaces. the furniture is older and dated, much of it (i suspect) in use continuously since the 1970s. they do have many other nice rooms that have been extensively renovated and are more modern, but - unless you pay for a specific room type, most visitors without a strong record of play in their casino would not be given these.

most rooms have one bathroom.
