Golden Nugget? Courtyard by Marriott?

Just returned from my fourth FABULOUS two-night stay at Revel and thought I'd check out the hotel ratings on Trip Advisor. And there was Revel at number FIVE below Golden Nugget and Courtyard by Marriott.

Now really? Can anyone explain why these hotels are ranked so high? And should I be checking them out for future visits?

AAA did give the GN a top rating. I guess it's all subjective but I doubt I could get a room at either Courtyard or Revel for only $39/nt. Besides why stay anywhere Other than a Casino in AC? I did it a few times several years ago before I built up my Comps and didn't have any "Offers". I stayed at the Days Inn next to the Trop, the Super 8 on Tennessee down from Resorts and the Best Western Envoy on Pacific before. I won't do that again. I don't know about you but I'd rather just go Upstairs in the evening when I'm done playing instead of having to get back in the car to drive back to my hotel. Since then I've stayed at the Trop, Resorts, Showboat, Caesars and the Taj. I stumbled across that $39 "Mobile Exclusive" for the GN on my Expedia app back in June. With my few points since the winter, Everywhere on the Boards was $60-70/nite. (Now I'm back up to Free at all the Harrah's places except Caesars and will probably stay again in Nov.) I couldn't pass up that $39 price as it was even lower than Harrah's and I hadn't been in the GN since they started their remodeling so I figured I'd give it a whirl. Here's the Video of my room.

Since I drive around to most of the other Casinos anyway to fool around here and there on a 2 or 3 nite midweek trip, it really makes no difference where I stay as long as it's in one of the casinos. For that $39 price the newly remodeled GN is a Bargain. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

The rankings on TA are far from an exact science. They may be a good guide but if you've been happy with Revel I wouldn't change just based on a rating here. I think both the other places you mentioned are good places but does it matter that Golden Nugget is in the marina or the Courtyard is just a hotel, no casino, showroom etc.

jerrysnj is spot on. I recall several months back The Knights Inn was rated as the #1 place to stay in A.C. Some rather creative shilling was done and it remained there for a few months. "Trust me, it is no hidden gem." That said G.N. rates are a true bargain. As little as $39 for a freshly remodeled room.

If you are not getting comped stays at Revel, G.N. could save you a tidy sum. But you would have transportation to deal with if you wished to visit boardwalk properties such as Revel.

Sure if you're staying Free at Revel, fine. I've seen what they want in Cash for their rooms and there's just no way I'd pay that much. I can stay at any Casino in AC for far less or Free again now, I've gotten my latest flyers. As I said before I just don't see why given the choice, anyone would Not stay right in a Casino. As far as the GN, remember that the whole property has been remodeled not just the rooms. It really is a Huge improvement over what it was in the Trump Marina days. They re-did Everything and I was really impressed with the whole place. The casino is smallish in comparison with others but I was comfortable with it. Revel is in the Mega-Resort class and it's like comparing apples & oranges. The GN has almost everything that Revel has but on a smaller scale.
