Which cupcake shop does she want to stop at? We did a fun thing at work one day were we got cupcakes from like 5 different cupcake shops in the area and did a taste test.

Bill's Gyro is on the Boardwalk, great salads, gyro, pizza , breakfast and other things also serve's beer. It's on the Boardwalk a few minutes after Ballys Casino.

You may wish to skip the (off the course & mess of a) drive into Washington, DC (via I-395 Northbound) just to visit a cupcake shop. Rather than do that, I know of a great bakery you can stop at (adjacent to the Beltway I-495), while staying on course. It is called:

While they do not sell cupcakes, they do sell some awesome cakes and it open's at 7:00 a.m.

The Springfield location is directly located in the Ravensworth Shoppiing Center immediately off the Beltway 495; Exit 54A Braddock Rd. If you are driving up VA I-95, you would exit off 95 & take the Exit Ramp onto I-495 in the direction marked Tysons Corner. Once on 495, Exit 54A Braddock Rd. is your first exit (about 2 miles). Once you buy the GF that delicious Birthday Cake, you can just hop right back onto 495 (Tyson's Corner) which takes you 23 miles (from Va. into Md.) which will re-connect you onto MD I-95 Northbound/Baltimore.

AVOID that leg of 495 bet. 6 a.m. - 9 a.m. wkday. mornings because it is rush hr. headed in that particular direction toward's Tysons. Instead, it would be best to get back onto 495 (sign marked: Richmond), but just remain straight on 495/95 (about 27 miles) until that loop crosses you from VA via the Woodrow Wilson Bridge into MD which will also connect you to MD I-95 Northbound/Baltimore.

AVOID BOTH LOOPS of 495 bet. 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. rush hr. wkdays. as well.

What I'm trying to get at: From home, MD'ers flock using both loops of 495 headed into Va. to work during wkday. mornings. Then after work, they flock from VA using both loops of 495 in the evenings to return home. A high concentration of employment is located in the Northern Virginia area.

But then; you can use a high-quality, up-to-date GPS System which will guide you through with ease...LOL!
