Here's an article in the NYT about AC post Sandy.
Every time there's a storm they show that part of the boardwalk. That section has been damaged for more than 20 years. Its has been closed more than 10 years. Its nowhere near anything.
I have to add something to the article. I need to add that the 99¢ store in Central Pier has been closed since the storm. It is sorely missed by this poster. Peanut World is just a short walk away. Same owners, just less selections at 99¢, but they do sell more things like nuts, cedar boxes, umbrellas, beachchairs & beach umbrellas [yes, I realize buyers are not lining up to buy beachchairs & beach umbrellas in November]. Peanut World is close by. You can see Peanut World from Central Pier
That Central Pier store was one of the most fun on the Boardwalk, just about everything you could imagine for one low price, but the floor of the far “back” section toward the ocean felt like it was on the verge of collapse for the past 5 years or so. I hope they reopen, they always had the best collection of AC souvenirs, hats, sunglasses and other great stuff.
The White House Sub shop is still closed.
