San Andres town or San Luis?

Hi all,

We're spending three days on SAI in late July and don't know yet where to stay - in San Andres town or San Luis.

SA town seems to be more mass touristy, which is not what we are looking for - however, as we are going to Providencia anyway, we don't want to already be away from it all on SA.

Is there some nightlife in San Luis - that is, beach bars, reggae bars, restaurants....?

Thanks for any comment!

Hi Baerli!

Unless things have really changed, I wouldn't say that centro is 'mass touristy' at all to be honest. My personal preference is centro but that's because I love to do a lot of walking and check out the side/back streets..I'm not really a sit on the beach type person.

San Luis..I believe there's Kellers (spelling) bar on the beach.

The island is small enough that regardless of where you stay, everything is pretty close and taxis are plentiful.

Have fun! :-)

WIB is correct The North End (The name original islanders give it) is a little touristy. This month and next is the rainy season so expect some heavy rains. Also there are quite a few tourists. This is a Colombian family tourist Island so don't expect much so called night life. A few disco's with very young people and some hotels with small entertainment.

I would suggest for only 3 days stay at the North End more to do and places to search out. Try the fisherman's Co-op restaurant near Sari bay they just rebuilt it and prices are good and your money will go to Razial people and not Mainlanders. Rent a golf cart and tour the Island for a day. Take the plane to Provendcia not the boat the weather on the sea has been rough unless you never get seasick.

hi WIBS, hi Razial!

Thanks for your help - so we'd rather stay at the North End. We've already booked a flight to San Andres, so we should be fine despite the weather :-)

BTW can you recommend any cabana/hotel/hostel/posada on Providencia? (we don't want to stay at any DCM hotels) Once again, we can't decide whether we should stay at Freshwater or South-west bay :-)

Thanks! :-)
