There are quite a few hotels just located at the airport. For examplem, Jichang Hotel, Chuan Kang Hotel.

The Homeland Hotel is a five star hotel about 10 minutes driving from the airport.

We've just come back from a tour with a guest - who had an early morning flight back to Shanghai - and so wanted to stay his final Sichuan night at a hotel airport. We had spent the afternoon traveling, getting to the airport just after midnight - and tried to find a room in one of the hotels inside the airport perimeter (walking distance from the departure hall). We had to go to a couple of hotels - before we found one with an empty room - booked it - and then hey-presto in walks a group of flight personnel - we ask for the keys of the room, just to be told sorry we've just given that room to this new group - now we're full!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm afraid sometimes; you can find awful service - even in the New China.

It was easy enough to find another hotel - outside there were a group of touts all trying to get us to go to hotels just outside the perimeter - but these hotels, are rather grubby, and although cheap (we could bet the room discounted by 50% to 130RMB) - they are not the kind of places some travelers would like to spend their night. Luckily our guest was a young Canadian who had just spent the day climbing a mountain trail - so he would have been quite at home with a tent on the runway apron - but I'm pretty sure some of our other guests wouldn't have been so enthusiastic over the standard of service offered by those hotels that are very close to Chengdu airport.

Since we have an airport motorway – which means driving from south Chengdu (the trendiest area in town – with a big hotel choice) is only a 30minutes taxi drive to the airport – that area seems almost as convenient a choice for those who want a quick drive-time to their flights.
