I am flying into Hong Kong airport at 1900h on a Friday. I would like to go immediately to the Shenzhen Shangri-La. What is the fastest, easiest way?

I know I can take a ferry to Shekou port then take a taxi, but this seems very time consuming and not that cheap.

Is it an option just to hire a taxi (or a bus)? What would be the cost?

There are several companies that do a bus or minivan from HKIA to Shenzhen. The minivan is a bit more expensive, but not alot. After you exit HK customs into the arrivals hall, wander to your left & you will see lots of booths that advertise transportation. Pay your fare & the ladies will take you to your bus or minivan. It will stop at the HK/China border - there you will have to manage your own luggage & go through China immigration. Then there will be another lady on the China side that will take you to a different bus or minivan - it will get you to your hotel. Going back to HK is easiest on the train - if you have lots of luggage, there are men in front of the hotel that will put your luggage on a cart & walk with you to the train station for 20-35 RMB.

Hi,

or From HKIA U can take the MTR to Kowloon Tong station, n then hop on another MTR to Lowu station Shenzhen. Shangrila Shenzhen is on the East side of Lowu. It's a short walking distance as soon as U go out the the station, should be less than 5 mnt

I am also flying into HKIA at about 1900 and want to go straight to Shenzhen but I wondered if maybe the border closes at night or is it open till very late.

Train via Kowloon Tong will involve several changes. Better to catch A43 airport bus direct to Sheung Shui Station then catch train across border.

Border at Lo Wu closes at 2400 so 7pm arrival give you plenty of time.

There is also a 24 hour border open at Huanggang if your flight is delayed.

You can take a taxi from the airport to the main train station in Hung Hom. From there you can catch a train to Shenzhen; takes about 40 minutes. Then it's a 10 minute walk to your hotel.
