English lessons for locals

During our last 3 trips to Cambodia we have befriended a local Tuk Tuk driver in Siem Reap,he is desperate to be able to speak better English, we thought we would like to pay for him to learn English but not sure of cost or where an adult would go to learn.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Language schools abound, but it would be in your best interest to have someone there go and get him enrolled properly and make sure he attends. Making sure the money gets spent the way you intend is very important, and it is hard to do if you just send the cash over.

It would help to know which town your tuk tuk drive is in as we are left to imply that it is in Siem Reap.

But in Siem Reap you have a number of choices but I would be choosing the ACE English school. And fees can be paid in AU to their HQ in Canberra. However, local payment is just as easy and quicker.

Best regards. Ian

One guy said this abotu the New York International School

"For English courses which span 11 weeks from Monday to Friday and 1 hr per day cost $59 US and about $8.50 for a book which will be required during the course study..."

Thanks for the replies, we would possibly try to set something up on our next visit to Siem Reap, I am just trying to get my research done prior to offering it to him.

there are many english speaking schools around,my friends pay $10 per month.its one hour a day for 6 days a week, for beginners its normal to have a khmer, english speaking teacher than when you learn the basics you move onto an english native speaker. teacher.most schools have different times you can attend so if working duing the day its easy to do an hour after work.
