 siem reap hotel

My wife and I will be in Siem Reap for three nights early in March 2010. We were going to stay at Le Meridien but we have discovered it has no balconies. My wife insists on a balcony even though we know there are a lot of flying insects to contend with.

We obviously want to sightsee but resting by a nice pool is important.

We would expect to pay about $US300 per day including all taxes. The Sofitel looks to be in the same general area as Le Meridien which apparently not far from Angkor Wat.

Hello Oscarsdad,

Well, in your price range is the Victoria Angkor Hotel & Resort which should suit you well. In my own view, it is the finest hotel in Siem Reap but without the high costs of the Grand d'Angkor owned and operated by Raffles group.

The Victoria chain is the French equivalent of Raffles but is, overall, far more reasonably priced, although you can go well above your indicated per diem should you wish to. Management is not necessarily French as their senior staff are drawn from all over the world. In addition, the Victoria group operate the best hotels throughout Vietnam should you be considering further travels in the region.

Best regards. Ian

I was going to say the City River Hotel is awesome with great balconies but at 60 a night is possibly not in the running!

I would agree Angkorlad, the Victoria Angkor is one of the finest hotels in Siem Reap WITH balconies at well under 200$ per night.I think you will be very happy if you stayed there.

Another choice with balconies although at high prices is the La Residence which also has a better location been near the centre of town. Better to be located nearer the centre of town than the temples in my opnion.
