This is a forum for holiday makers although many who post on here live here. Suggest you might find it more useful to post on expatforum.com.

Dear Jemima

I work with Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai, and to answer your questions of course we do employ British doctors and staff. Our staff are from a number of nationalities and backgrounds, to ensure that all of our patients can be catered to as, being located in Dubai, all of our Patient Management Officers are at least bi-lingual or speak multiple languages to cater to all of our patients needs and requirements. Kindly contact me on 04 429 7803 or email me maha.aboughali@moorfields.ae and I will make sure that your concerns are adressed and we apologise for any inconvenience you may have encountered.

Warm regards,

Maha Aboughali

Marketing Manager

I know I am speaking for Bedugirl but really she was just trying to help you.

She doesn't have a problem, she was simply pointing out that you mat get more replies on an ex-pat forum where there will likely be people who have attended the hospital and can provide more advice.

People are free to ask any question they want and we are free to provide advice or to provide other information that may assist more if we do not know the answer and believe there is a better source of information to be found.

You have a response from their marketing manager so maybe emailing them is your best bet. However, if I was in your shoes and wanted impartial advice about the hospital then I would look on the ex-pat forums such as

www.dubaiforum.com

www.expatwoman.com

Hi Jemima, I guess the removed post is yours? As Latimer quite rightly says, my intention was to provide you with a source that would hopefully provide you with a reasonable amount of information. It could be that someone who lives here would post and be of assistance but it's more likely you would find out more from a forum used by expats. What I can tell you is that there is a particular doctor here called Millicent Grimm, she is South African, who has a very good reputation. I have not been treated by her personally but know several people who have, including one friend who had seen numerous specialists previously who had been unable to diagnose her condition correctly. I know Moorfields here has a good reputation, however, again, I have not consulted with them, therefore, could not provide you with any first hand information. Latimer, sorry should have started by saying thank you to you for explaining to Jemima :).

One thing I can say for sure is that you could not pay me to let any doctor in Dubai fire a laser into my eye. The amount of regulation here is awful, especially when it comes to things like cosmetic surgery.

I had lasik done in Dubai and cannot fault the equipment or the doctor. the price was good also, 5000 dirham for both eyes.

The patient care and customer service were not great but I have come to expect that in Dubai... as you too are finding in the UK with the influx of poorly trained foreign nurses, allied health etc, but the main thing is that the equipment and doctor were as good as anywhere, and I still have 2 good eyes to prove it.

It wasn't Moorfields.
