ok big 40 looming |
so def going to dubai for a few days but where would you two centre it with and why, that is apart from Thailand. got to have great accommodation. |
Shazza you know my answer as we discussed it last night it would be the Maldives as in my opinion it is absolute bliss, BUT what about all those options Mary has just given you ????? Trust Mary to throw a spanner in the works and open the playing field up even more for you. Now you will have even more to look at. My personal opinion for what it is worth is to go to at least one place that you haven't been to before and my reason for this is that when you go somewhere for the first time that is fabulous you never forget it or never beat that feeling again. As you have so much information and people to call on you are pretty certain of going somewhere fabulous so for your 40th then it would be more memorable. However knowing you I would be happy to start a sweep now with all the forums guests on just how many hotels you will have reservations on before the big event. !!!! Am I right ???? I will take a guess at four different destinations and possibly one hotel in each.

Maryjo Dubai is not set in stone and with any luck may manage a trip for a few days seperately, trouble is my hubbie has set hols so a pain in the neck. india def fancy as well all the places you recommend , as I know you love your lux travel so you can point me in right direction, problem is we are lazy travllers and hate going here and there so for gavin want something that he will also like, he thinks maldives will be boring but loves the vibe of city such as bangkok even they do stink. But ive also got loads of sirius points with jumeriah and want to use them as well for Dubai as they only last two years, am staying in there hotel in new york for xmas so even more points for upgrades or cheaper rooms in dubai. that was a result of the stay at the Burj last xmas.
Mollie moo you know me well, so goodness knows where we will end up, i really fancy japan but ma;dives does tick all the boxes, so if i work hard, save hard, maybe even more choices and more opportunites. And there is also eurpoe as well .
Sharon, thanks for reminding me about the Sirius points!! We are both Sirius members too, so do you reckon we should get a fair amount of points from our stay at the Burj? Should I have told them we are Sirius members when I booked or will it be OK to wait until we arrive? We should get quite a few "skywards miles" from our stay at Al Maha too as they are part of the Emirates group.
Maryjo - have you stayed in all these places you mention? God I thought I was well travelled. You are sooo lucky - You could be the next Judith Chalmers.LOL.
Rewards for the staying at the Burj over xmas were 5 nights into club at mina, 3 nights at al qasr and 7 nights at JBH. That was for August 07. We are also staying at jumeriah essex hse for xmas in new york and better for us to collect more points than take a park view of central parl. on top of that that ive loads now with virign and eva air for thailand. and hopefully will have the companion flight with amex , 10, ooo spend in one year gives one comapnion fligjt, any class that the main passenger books , so a good loyalty programme with amex but needs to be the British Airways card. T Re sirius, take number with you and they can check on system and add at end of stay and all purchases are inc in the points for stays at the burj.

i dont know what happended to the spelling.
Hannah, yes I've stayed in ALL of them!!!!!! in my dreams!!!LOL I have stayed in a few of them, but the others are hotels I have been considering booking in the past and in the future. I always spend hours doing my homework about hotels before i finally decide on one. I never really choose the destination I want to go to first, I always look for really special hotels and when I see one which really appeals to me, I then check which country it is in. There are so many places and hotels I want to go to, but would need to win the lottery first. I will be booking somewhere next year for my 50th and already am considering Jade Mountain in st. Lucia for that. Where have you travelled to? It is always good to get some ideas from others like yourself. Sharon, Thanks for the info on the Sirius points

Highly recommend the Tanjung Aru in Kota Kinabalu, Borneo - fabulous place. A Horizon Club room is a must. People very friendly and a trip to the islands on the South China Sea is a wonderful experience. Lynne
