Enjoyed a faultless 5 night stay at the LRM 1st week June 2007
Booked Club Seaview with complentary half board
On arrival at 9am we were welcomed with a camp smile and an upgrade into Tower as well as maintaining our Club Lounge Status. After being whisked to Tower reception we enjoyed a breakfast in Fusion and a further upgrade into a Tower Suite (6007)...wow
The suite could house a small country...large reception room with sofa and 2 chairs ; dining table and 4 chairs, desk, kitchen area with coffee and tea making and toilet. Beyond the curtains a large balcony with seating for 6...
The palacial bedroom comprised of a King Size Bed ; enough drawer and wardrobe space to hide the Household Cavalry and their steeds ; full entertainment system (albeit me and Mrs S would hopefully be providing our own entertainment), ensuite bathroom with large shower and bathtub all overlooking the Gulf and charged up with Hermes toiletries, bathrobes, slippers, etc etc etc
4 good sized clean chilled pools in beautifully maintained gardens all well staffed and supported by plenty of sunbeds and shade. Towels supplied daily. Cold towels, sprays and frozen juices provided throughout the day...nice touch...
Immaculate beach again plenty of beds and shade with beach bar and beach buggy providing lifts to the Hotel...the sea was crystal clear v v warm...no jellies or nibblers...plenty of sports for those more active types...felt very safe...patrolled by Hotel staff and the police... a few workers hang aroundI went for a chat with them one day...they just like to come down to the sea to cool off anf have some lunch...all appeared very genuine and pleased for interest
Fusion for buffet breakfast...superb service and choice in comfortable surroundings...freahly cooked eggs to order...smoked salmon and scrambled eggs...mmm...mm
We utilised the half board in the Brasserie on our first night - excellent buffet style restaurant albeit a bit unstructured for 5 star dining...we agreed to implement the 100dhms per person credit and try a la carte in the other restaurants on future nights
Ate out the 2nd night but had a superb meal at the Prime Rib on the 3rd night...excellent meal and ambience highly recommended
4th night dined at the al fresco at Al Khiema...excellent food service and atmosphere even in the heat of the night
5th night was still stuffed from the Burj, room treats and the cocktail party in Al Kaleeja
Never made afternoon tea just too hot to bother with although we made up in the evening gorging on the excellent choice of superb canope's and as many free drinks you could squeeze in...including a double dose on last orders....can't fault the service and atmosphere in very social surroundings
By far the most polite, curteous, friendly, efficient and genuine staff I have ever met. Nothing was too much and all with a smile. They made us feel special...in total contrast to the inept, unprofessional job worths mentality we experienced with GNER and London Underground...
Don't be put off - albeit intensive (and too be honest impressive) especially around the GHH we were totally unaffected by the construction...in fact once in the LRM we didn't notice it...
THE EXTRA TOUCHES
Bottle of Champagne and bouquet of flowers presented in our room...we didn't advertise that we were celebrating our 20th Anniversary...I think they noticed the cards in the room and just made the gesture
Gratis Room Service Breakfast before checking out at 5:30am...coffee orange and toasts
6 Bottles of water every day...our housekeeper asked everyday if we needed more
Free nibbles in the room on an afternoon
Unlike the US it is not necessary...I left 10-15 dhms on the bed each day...10% for taxis and 20dhms for the bell boys...10% was always added to food bills
For a 5 star Hotel didn't feel ripped off by anything...glass of wine or pint of beer from 28dhms...1.5 litre water by pool 18dhms but supplied with ice bucket...Club Sandwich, chips and coke by the pool @45dhms
41 degs midday...drink plenty of water...slap on the cream...cool down in the pool...get in the shade 12-3...just be sensible and it shouldn't be an issue...night time 32 degs and humid...more comfortable eating inside with the air con...
Superb...would I return...absolutely...
